Advent Calendar
The Advent Calendar, a special holiday tradition used to count down the days until Christmas, became popular in Germany in the 19th century. Traditionally, it consists of a calendar with 24 little doors, each containing a small gift or picture.
Each year, many families use the Advent Calendar in anticipation of Christmas Day. Children especially enjoy looking behind the doors to see what holiday treasure is waiting for them.
